SEO Tool Comparison.

As far as keyword research and SEO optimization tools go, Moz is one of the oldest and most highly regarded. Founded in 2004 as SEOmoz, the company launched its first SEO optimization tool all the way back in 2009.

I loved to tune into Rand Fishkin’s Whiteboard Friday when he was the ‘Wizard of Moz’, and I still do today!

In fact, Moz has come up with many SEO definitions digital marketers continue to use, including domain authority (DA), 10x content, and pogo sticking.

We’ve compared Ubersuggest against other high-quality SEO tools in the past; we’ve looked at Ubersuggest vs Ahrefs and Ubersuggest vs Semrush. Now it’s time for Ubersuggest vs Moz.

Let’s look at the different features of Ubersuggest and Moz, how much they cost to use, and which is the best fit for your business.

Using Ubersuggest for SEO

Homepage of the Ubersuggest keyword tool

When I was developing Ubersuggest, I wanted to create a platform that was easy to use but still provided lots of functionality.

After all, every business, regardless of size or budget, should have access to an excellent keyword research and SEO platform.

Me and my team designed Ubersuggest to provide results straight away. Type a keyword or domain you want to analyze, choose the country you want the search results to focus on, and you’re all set!

For extra powerful results, why not use Ubersuggest and AnswerThePublic together?

Use AnswerThePublic to see what people are searching for in Google, and then use Ubersuggest to see which of those searches will drive the most traffic to your website. It’s a fantastic combination for identifying content ideas that your web users will love.

Ubersuggest Features

Here’s a fact you might not have known—Ubersuggest uses Moz data to provide specific information. When you use Ubersuggest for backlink analysis, you can access Moz-based metrics, including domain and page authority, as well as a spam score.

Domain and page authority gauge how likely your website or a specific page will rank in the search engines. A high spam score shows that your site is similar to websites that have been penalized by Google in the past.

Moz makes its API available to businesses and other developers—HubSpot, Linkody, and Klipfolio use it too. The Moz API means we can provide the most accurate, high-quality data to our users, without increasing our prices to develop a way to get the data ourselves.

In addition to backlink analysis, some of the features that Ubersuggest provides include:

  • Keyword suggestions for a seed keyword, page, or domain
  • Keyword tracking on Google
  • Keyword visualization to identify keyword clusters
  • Content marketing and optimization suggestions
  • AI content creation
  • On-page SEO recommendations

Another cool thing about Ubersuggest is that you can use it in multiple languages, including Spanish, German, Portuguese, and Chinese. This means that no matter where you are in the world and which language you speak, you can optimize your SEO to perfection.

We don’t do Whiteboard Friday at Ubersuggest—only one SEO platform can do it justice, and that’s Moz! However, we’re dedicated to making Ubersuggest as easy to use as possible and lifting the lid on the world of search engine optimization. We provide lots of info and support to help you get the most out of your Ubersuggest account.

One of the ways to enhance your keyword research is to use the Ubersuggest Chrome extension. This free extension works in sync with Google search, giving you lots of additional insight including:

  • Domain authority
  • Social media shares
  • Number of backlinks
  • Estimated traffic
  • Additional related keywords, search volume, competition, and estimated cost-per-click.

Ubersuggest Pricing

My team and I intentionally set the Ubersuggest pricing so any marketing department could take advantage of its functionality and still have the budget to implement an SEO strategy.

Ubersuggest pricing tiers, with Individual starting at $29 a month, Business $49 a month, and Enterprise $99 a month.

When compared side-by-side, Ubersuggest is over 240% cheaper than Moz!

Ubersuggest starts from $29 a month. If you’re looking for even more of a discount, you can purchase a lifetime plan from $290—which is something the other keyword research tools on the market don’t offer.

This means you pay once, and that’s it—fantastic if you want access to the latest version of Ubersuggest without worrying about monthly fees.

If you want to customize your Ubersuggest plan even more, you can buy add-ons for $5 a month. These include:

  • 500 extra daily searches
  • Additional domains and competitor domains
  • An extra 250 tracked keywords
  • Additional users

Plus, Ubersuggest is entirely risk-free. You get a 7-day free trial, and if you buy the lifetime plan there’s a 30-day guarantee. If it’s not what you thought it would be, we’ll give you your money back, no questions asked.

Is there a free version of Ubersuggest?

Yes! You get one free search a day, or if you create an account, you get three searches a day. You can sign up in less than a minute using your Google credentials, and you don’t need to enter your credit card details.

Many SEO tools lock down the free functionality available to you, but we didn’t want this to be the case with Ubersuggest. With the free version you get:

  • Keyword suggestions, including monthly search volumes, cost-per-click, and competition level
  • Domain analysis, including top keywords, traffic sources, and backlink profiles
  • Personalized SEO recommendations
  • Three months’ worth of historical data
  • Use of the Ubersuggest Chrome extension

Ubersuggest Customer Thoughts

“Ubersuggest has educated, monitored, and supported me. In one of our keywords we have gone from 59 to 1, even now outranking a business whose name literally is the keyword. We are to 3 in several others and front page in more… One of the most important tools in our business.”

Five-star G2 review from Robert

It’s great to hear customers have their say about Ubersuggest, and like Robert, let us know how it’s helping their marketing!

We take all feedback into consideration, both positive and negative. For example, we added more functionality to the free version of Ubersuggest so people could boost their search engine presence even if they couldn’t afford the monthly fee.

Users love how affordable Ubersuggest is, how many features you get for what you pay, and how easy it is to use. No need for extensive training; just dive in!

Using MOZ for SEO

Moz Pro markets itself as an SEO tool for marketing professionals and technical specialists. With a range of features, this tool can conduct site audits, track keywords, suggest keywords to target, and more.

Let’s look at some of the unique functionality Moz Pro provides.

Moz Features

One of the cool things about Moz is that it identifies and tracks keywords across multiple search engines, not just Google, but:

  • Yahoo
  • Bing
  • Ask.com
  • DuckDuckGo
  • Yandex
  • Baidu

This gives you a clear steer on how your keywords are doing in the search engines, especially if you operate in other countries.

Moz can also help you with your local SEO. This functionality identifies whether you feature in popular local directories, identifies new listing opportunities, and recommends how you can optimize your profiles.

This paid-for tool is separate from Moz Pro, but you can check your Moz Local Listing score for free.

Like Ubersuggest, Moz frequently rolls out new updates to the platform to provide users with even more functionality.

For example, Moz recently introduced its new Domain Overview feature, which provides a summary of a domain or page’s performance, alongside recommendations for improvement, for example, backlink opportunities. This is a great way to see all your metrics for a particular site in one place.

You can check out some of the newer features Moz is trialing in the Moz Lab.

Many SEO platforms have their own Chrome extensions, and Moz is no exception. The Moz Chrome extension is called Mozbar and is extremely popular, with over 800,000 installs!

Mozbar provides lots of helpful analytics within Google, including domain authority and backlinks. There’s also a direct link to Moz’s Link Explorer for more information about a specific domain or page.

You can also use the Mozbar to get more information about a webpage. For example, the page title and meta description, page loading time, and if the page uses structured data like Schema.

Moz Pricing

When it comes to pricing, Moz firmly occupies the middle ground. While Moz Pro is not as affordable as Ubersuggest, it’s not as expensive as tools like Ahrefs or Semrush.

This makes it a solid option for businesses and digital marketing agencies that want to dive into their website’s SEO but don’t need the superfluous features of more expensive platforms.

Moz Pro pricing, starting from $99 a month for the Standard plan

Moz pricing starts from $99 a month. While it doesn’t offer a lifetime plan like Ubersuggest, you can save 20% by paying annually.

Like Ubersuggest, Moz Pro also offers add-ons you can use to enhance your plan. Additional users cost $49 a month, while you can purchase extra keywords, pages, and campaigns from $10 a month.

Moz Local is purchased separately, meaning you don’t have to buy Moz Pro to use it. This tool costs from $14 a month, making it a cost-effective solution for small businesses that want to manage their local listings from one place.

Moz Local Pricing, starting from $14 monthly for Lite, $20 for Preferred, and $33 for Elite.

Is there a free version of Moz?

Yes. You can get limited access to Moz by creating an account. While some of the features are unavailable on the free version, you get access to the following:

  • 5 Domain Overview queries a month, which lets you analyze keywords and domain authority for a specific site.
  • 10 Competitive Research queries a month, which lets you see who your competitors are and which keywords you can rank for against them.
  • 10 Keyword Explorer queries, which allow you to identify the best keywords to target.
  • 10 Link Explorer queries, which let you see backlinks, anchor text, and top pages on a specific website.
  • Use of the Moz Chrome extension: Mozbar.

You can also get a free 30-day trial of Moz Pro, with access to all the features.

Moz Customer Thoughts

“The best thing about Moz is how complete it is. It has tools to begin a campaign (like keyword research or backlink figures) or information to monitor or improve rankings (ranking positions and visibility). I really like not needing to navigate to different tools constantly.”

Five-star G2 review from Chris

Moz is valued and respected by digital marketers and SEO specialists worldwide, with many fantastic reviews.

Customers love the Mozbar plugin, which is easy to use and provides lots of valuable data, both on websites and in the search engines. They also enjoy the online forum, which offers handy technical support to supplement their use of the platform.

Ubersuggest vs MOZ: What’s the Better SEO Tool?

As you can see, Ubersuggest and Moz have a lot of functionality in common; you can use them to identify keywords, generate content ideas, and analyze competitors’ websites. However, they have distinctive features that make them stand out too.

Still not sure who wins out in the battle of Ubersuggest vs Moz? Let’s compare the paid-for versions:

Can You Use Ubersuggest and MOZ Together?

You can! In my experience, no two SEO keyword research tools are perfectly identical. One will have a feature that the other doesn’t, and vice versa. You can use this to your advantage.

A great way to use both tools is to use the Ubersuggest Chrome extension and Moz Chrome extension together. Let’s say you want to use the keyword ‘polarized sunglasses’ for your business. You can use the Ubersuggest extension to find keyword ideas and see which competitor sites get the most traffic.

You can then use Mozbar to closely examine the most popular websites. What domain and page authority do these sites have, what do their meta descriptions look like, and how many backlinks are in place?

So don’t think of it as Ubersuggest vs Moz; think of it as two distinct tools that will give you lots of valuable SEO data.

Conclusion

So, which platform is the best?

The honest answer is that it depends on what your budget is and what features you want in place to help your business to thrive.

Moz has many specialist features for businesses that want to prioritize technical SEO. You can evaluate your site’s structure and linking, track your website’s performance and speed, and carry out technical site audits. While other SEO platforms like Semrush are great for marketers, Moz is fantastic if you want to improve the user experience and monitor your site’s overall health.

While Ubersuggest does have a solid site audit feature, the platform specializes in keyword research and generating topic ideas. With Ubersuggest, you can identify the right keywords to target, put together blog post suggestions, and see what your competitors are doing. You can even use the new AI Writer to create high-performing content.

Both SEO platforms target two very different types of digital marketers. Whichever you choose, you’re one step closer to improving your SEO and getting the edge over your competitors.

Still not sure which one is right for you? Give the free version of each platform a try and see which one helps you the most.

Do you prefer Ubersuggest or Moz? Which one would you recommend to a business looking to improve its SEO? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
