How to Increase Your Time On Site
You’re working hard to get traffic to your website, but what sucks is most of your visitors just bounce right off.
When you look at your analytics you’ll notice that some people stick around for minutes. But most of your visitors are usually bouncing off your website within a few seconds.
After you watch this video, things will change… as I’m going to teach you how to increase your time on site.
Step #1: Make sure your text size is large enough – from what I have tested, the larger the text size the higher your time on site will be.
This isn’t because people are blind, it’s because people are using smaller devices like phones to browse sites.
Step #2: Use storytelling – by crafting stories that engage readers, it will cause them to read your content and stay on your website longer.
Storytelling is powerful… it’s worked for centuries.
Step #3: Use Crazy Egg – this tool will show you how people engage on your website. From scrolling to mouse movements to video recordings… Crazy Egg is a visual analytics tool.
For example on my website, I have noticed that people are scrolling to the bottom before they reading my blog posts. They are reading my conclusions and from there they determine if they want to read the rest of the blog post.
Once I learned this I added conclusions to all of my blog posts. This helped increase my time on site.
Step #4: Use different content types – from videos to audio files, your time on site will increase as these mediums create more engagement.
Step #5: Add images – use relevant images that convey the message you are trying to get across. Images draw people in and it breaks up your text blocks.
